We paid for SKU 7705015242, weighed the parcel on our 30 kg scale before cutting the tape, calipered the hoodie against the warehouse QC photos, then cold-washed it. Here is what the numbers say.
4.3 / 5Hands-on score
Editor verdict
A real 370–380 g/m² loopback terry hoodie with even stitching and a well-registered chest graphic; the relaxed cut is genuinely relaxed. Deductions: an off-square sleeve tag and an open pocket the spec text describes as flapped.
What works
- Loopback terry estimated at 370–380 g/m², inside the listed 350–400 g band.
- Labelled L measured 60.2 cm flat at the chest — a genuinely relaxed cut, not just a label.
- Shoulder and hood seams ran even at 9 stitches per inch with no skipped stitches.
Watch-outs
- The woven sleeve tag sits roughly 2–3° off square against the left cuff rib.
- The spec text says a flap patch pocket; the delivered pocket is an open kangaroo with no flap.
- Batch variance is real — rep QC threads report mismatched ape-head eyes, which our unit did not show.
- Who may find this useful
- Anyone who wants a light, roomy white pullover for spring and autumn layering and will confirm flat chest and length measurements with the agent before shipping.
- Who may want to skip this
- Skip it if you want a brushed fleece winter layer, a trim silhouette, or the flap pocket the spec text describes; the terry is warm-weather weight and the cut is wide.
We ordered SKU 7705015242 — the Bape white hoodie in relaxed streetwear style — through our usual agent route, paid $22.24 (down from $23.51) and opened the parcel ourselves at the Rotterdam desk. The listing calls it cotton, loose-cut, 350–400 g, spring and autumn weight, with a cartoon chest print and a flap patch pocket. Everything below was measured on the garment that arrived, not read off the listing page. Price and availability were checked at publication and the item was in stock.

Weight: our postal scale against the agent's declared figure
We photographed the parcel sealed, then put it on the 30 kg postal scale before cutting the tape. It read 1.13 kg against the agent's declared 1.15 kg — a 20 g gap, inside the tolerance we normally see on polymailer shipments of this size. Once open, the hoodie alone came in at 618 g on the same scale, with the mailer, void fill and invoice slip accounting for the remaining 512 g.
That garment weight is the first real check on the listing's 350–400 g claim, and it holds up: a hoodie of this shape and cut simply does not land at 618 g unless the terry is in that band. The size label printed inside the neck reads L and matches the size on the shipping invoice, which is not something every agent parcel gets right.
Measurements against the warehouse QC photos
| Dimension (size L) | Warehouse QC photo | Our measurement | Listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chest, flat, pit to pit | 59.0 cm | 60.2 cm | Not stated |
| Body length, high point shoulder | 69.0 cm | 68.4 cm | 69 cm |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 51.0 cm | 52.0 cm | Not stated |
| Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff edge | 63.0 cm | 63.5 cm | Not stated |
| Hem, flat across the rib | 46.5 cm | 47.0 cm | Not stated |
| Cuff rib opening, relaxed | Not measurable flat | 9.5 cm | Not stated |
Because the QC images carry no scale bar, we derived widths from pixel ratios against the 69 cm garment length the listing states, then laid the same tape over the delivered hoodie. Everything landed within 1.5 cm, and the extra 2 cm at the chest and shoulder looks like lay-flat compression during photography rather than a different garment — the stitching, print placement and neck label match the QC file image for image.
Fabric: loopback terry, not fleece, and the GSM we measured
Every colourway name in the size run uses the loopback terry term, and the seller's own spec states there is no fleece lining. That is exactly what arrived: a single-knit French terry with visible loops on the inside face and no brushed nap. Calipers across the inner surface put the terry structure at roughly 1.3 mm, and it reads as one terry layer, not a bonded fleece.
We cut two 10 × 10 cm swatches — one from the inside of the hem allowance, one from the hood's inner layer — and weighed them at 3.7 g and 3.8 g. That works out to roughly 370–380 g/m². Two samples is an estimate with a few percent of error either way, so read it as confirmation that the garment sits inside the listed 350–400 g band rather than as a lab certificate. The hand feel supports it: dry, faintly grainy on the outside, substantial enough to hold a shape and light enough to sit under a jacket in autumn.
Ribbing at the cuffs and hem
Cuff rib relaxed at 9.5 cm across the opening and stretched to 14.5 cm, about 1.5 times its resting width. After ten stretch cycles it sat at 9.8 cm, and 30 minutes later it was back to 9.6 cm. The hem rib relaxed at 47 cm, stretched to 58 cm and recovered to 47.2 cm. After the cold wash both ribs returned to 9.5 cm and 47.0 cm respectively, so we recorded no permanent growth. The drawcords are flat 8 mm cotton with knotted ends and no aglets.
Graphic and sleeve tag under a 5000K lamp
We set the warehouse QC images and the delivered hoodie side by side under a 5000K lamp and compared both against the colour card. The white reads neutral rather than yellow, and the delivered garment white matched the QC file within a shade.
- Print centring: the graphic's centreline sits within 3 mm of the garment centreline.
- Ape Head eyes: left 21 × 19 mm, right 21 × 19 mm on our unit — matched within half a millimetre.
- Wordmark: 22 mm cap height, with the stroke at both the top and bottom of the "G" measuring 2.4 mm, so no thin-end taper.
- Print height: the top of the graphic sits 12 cm below the front collar seam.
- Sleeve tag: a woven 24 × 12 mm tag on the outer face of the left cuff, 25 mm above the cuff's fold line — and roughly 2–3° off square against the rib.
The mismatched-eye and thin-lettering flaws that rep-Bape reviewers regularly flag did not show up on our garment. We cannot generalise that to other batches, and the tilted sleeve tag is the clearest cosmetic miss we found anywhere on the hoodie.
Stitching at the shoulder, hood and hem
We counted stitches rather than eyeballing density. Shoulder seams are single-needle lockstitch at 9 stitches per inch with a taped neckline. The hood centre seam is a double-needle flat fell at 8–9 per inch with no puckering along its length. Side seams are four-thread overlock with a 1.1 cm seam allowance and no loose threads, and the hem runs a twin-needle coverstitch at 10–11 per inch, even across the full width. Pocket corners are bar-tacked at 4 mm.
One discrepancy is worth flagging. The specification text describes a flap patch pocket, while the product description says a front kangaroo pocket. What arrived is the latter: an open kangaroo with bar-tacked corners and no flap. If the flap is the detail you are buying for, ask the seller to confirm it on the current batch.
Wet weather, then a cold wash
One light-rain walk on day four: the cotton wets out rather than beading, and the shoulders were damp through after about ten minutes. It dried flat without water marks or set creases, which matters more on a white garment than on a dark one.
The wash was 30 degrees, short cycle, 800 rpm, flat dried. Body length went from 68.4 to 67.9 cm, a 0.7 per cent change, and the chest went from 60.2 to 59.7 cm. The print showed no cracking, flaking or edge lift. On a 180 cm frame the labelled L sits with the shoulder seam about 3 cm past the acromion, the cuff ending 2 cm beyond the wrist bone, and the hem at the hip, roughly 6 cm below the belt line at the back. A flat chest of 60.2 cm is a 120 cm circumference, or about 10 cm of ease per side over a 100 cm chest, so the relaxed label on the listing is accurate rather than optimistic.
What one parcel cannot prove
Three things sit outside what a single delivered hoodie can settle. Sizing is the first: this listing says loose, while brand-level BAPE guidance says the house hoodies run small and buyers size up. Those two signals conflict, and our measured 60.2 cm flat chest on a labelled L says the loose description wins on this unit — not necessarily on the next one.
Standard fit: go up one size from your usual US size. Relaxed/oversized fit: go up two sizes, particularly in hoodies and tees. BAPE pieces rarely feel too big, but they often feel too small. — LGND, BAPE sizing and fit guide
Print QC is the second. Reviewers of rep Bape hoodies routinely flag uneven ape-head eyes, misspaced camo motifs and thin or misaligned lettering, and a buyer of Bape-style pieces from a China marketplace described the cotton as not very good and reported tags falling apart. Our sample passed those checks with calipers and a colour card, but that is one garment from one batch.
Fume is the third. The hoodie came out of the mailer with a faint factory smell that cleared after 24 hours of airing. That is a mixed report we see often and cannot smooth over: air it before wearing it. On material, brand-level authentication guidance notes that genuine BAPE hoodies are typically heavyweight 100 per cent cotton and that a thin, stretchy or synthetic feel is a warning sign. At an estimated 370–380 g/m² with a dry hand and no synthetic slickness, this one does not trip that wire.
Our scores, category by category
| Category | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric weight and hand | 4.5 / 5 | 370–380 g/m² estimated from two weighed swatches; dry terry with no synthetic slickness. |
| Sizing and cut as described | 4.5 / 5 | Labelled L measured 60.2 cm flat at the chest; the relaxed cut is real, not a label. |
| Print placement and colour | 4.5 / 5 | Graphic centred within 3 mm; ape-head eyes matched within half a millimetre. |
| Stitching and construction | 4.0 / 5 | Even 9 stitches per inch at shoulder and hood; sleeve tag sits 2–3° off square. |
| Wash behaviour and rib recovery | 5 / 5 | Under 1 per cent length change; cuffs and hem returned to their pre-wash figures. |
| Listing accuracy | 4.0 / 5 | Spec text says flap pocket; the delivered pocket is an open kangaroo. |
Overall: 4.3 / 5. The deductions are the off-square sleeve tag and the pocket wording, not the garment. On weight, fabric, stitching density and print registration, the delivered hoodie met or slightly beat what the listing promised.
Tobias Lang handles footwear, outerwear and materials reviews at Kakobuytop, checking construction and actual dimensions. Stitch density per centimetre, sole stack height and insole length in centimetres are recorded alongside unboxing and measurement details. Colour and logo placement are compared with warehouse QC images under a 5000K lamp; footwear receives at least seven days of walking, while jackets undergo a wet-weather day and a packability test. Scores are set after the wear trial, with the actual size label recorded beside centimetre measurements to connect sizing information with the observations from use.

Frequently asked
Did the delivered hoodie match the warehouse QC photos?
Yes, within measurement variance. Chest, length, shoulder and sleeve figures landed within 1.5 cm of pixel-ratio estimates taken from the QC images, and stitching and print placement matched. The one difference was the pocket: the spec text says flap, the delivered hoodie has an open kangaroo.
Is it fleece-lined or warm enough for winter?
No. Our unit is single-knit loopback terry with visible interior loops and no brushed nap, estimated at 370–380 g/m², matching the listing's no-fleece note. It is a spring and autumn layer that works under a jacket rather than a winter piece on its own.
How does the sizing actually run, given BAPE's slim reputation?
This listing is cut loose, and our labelled L measured 60.2 cm flat at the chest, roughly 10 cm of ease per side over a 100 cm chest. Brand-level guidance says BAPE runs small, so the signals conflict: ask the agent for flat chest and length figures and compare them with a hoodie you own.
