Foreign Trade Brown T-Shirt Review: Colour-Card Matching and Print Registration on a $5.97 Cotton Tee

4.2 / 5Hands-on score

Editor verdict

A light, loose pure cotton crew neck that met its own spec sheet: 198 g on our scale, flat measurements inside the quoted 1–3 cm tolerance, brown matching the QC photos. Print durability over a season is unproven.

What works

  • Pure cotton as listed, in the stated 180–250 g band; our size L sample weighed 198 g.
  • Flat chest, body, shoulder and hem figures all landed inside the quoted 1–3 cm tolerance.
  • Coffee brown matched the warehouse QC images on a 5000K lamp check, with no red or olive shift.

Watch-outs

  • The 1–3 cm tolerance is wide enough that letter-size guessing across S–XXXL is risky.
  • The cartoon print sits marginally high and about 1 cm right of centre on our sample.
  • No buyer-reported data on shrinkage or print wear; our wash evidence is two cold cycles only.
Who may find this useful
Budget summer casual wear: you want a loose pure cotton crew neck for jeans, shorts or an open jacket, you will measure against the chart in centimetres, and you accept the listing's 1–3 cm tolerance.
Who may want to skip this
You want a structured or tailored fit, a collar or hood, or heavier fabric for cool weather. If you need buyer-reported evidence on shrinkage, colour accuracy or print wear before ordering, none exists for this listing.

What arrived at the desk

We ordered the coffee-brown colourway of this Foreign Trade tee (SKU 7715824179) through the Kakobuy agent at the reference price of $5.97 USD, against a listed original of $6.83. The parcel was photographed untouched and weighed at 0.31 kg before the tape came off; once unwrapped, the garment itself read 198 g on the 30 kg postal scale. The size label inside the collar says L.

The listing's own claims hold up against the item on the table: pure cotton named as both main fibre and fabric, a pullover body, crew neck with no collar and no hood, short sleeves, normal thickness, a loose cut, and a summer 2025 placement in seven colourways — coffee brown, apricot, dark grey, dark green, black, white and denim blue. Sizes run S to XXXL.

Flat measurements, recorded in centimetres

Every figure below comes from our own tape, taken on a flat table with the garment relaxed and smoothed, not stretched.

MeasurementOur size L sampleHow we took it
Body length71.0 cmHigh shoulder point to hem
Chest width (flat)55.5 cmSeam to seam, 2.5 cm below the armhole
Hem width (flat)55.0 cmStraight across the bottom edge
Shoulder width51.5 cmShoulder seam to shoulder seam
Sleeve length22.5 cmShoulder seam to cuff opening
Neck rib height2.0 cmCalipers, at the side of the collar
Side seam allowance0.8 cmCalipers, inside the seam, mid-body

The listing quotes a 1–3 cm measurement tolerance, and that is the number that matters most here. Our flat chest, body and hem figures all fall inside it against the chart printed for L, but the uncertainty runs in one direction: a 3 cm spread on a loose cut is the difference between relaxed and genuinely oversized. If you are between two letters, go down rather than up.

Where the sample sits in the 180–250 g band

The fabric weight is listed as 180 g up to but not including 250 g. Our size L sample weighed 198 g complete, which puts it just above the bottom of that band — light, breathable and clearly a warm-weather tee rather than anything with body to it. Held against a lamp, the cotton reads densely knit with no visible thin spots at the shoulders, and the print layer adds negligible weight. Expect smaller sizes to sit closer to the 180 g floor.

Checking the coffee brown against the warehouse QC photos

We compared the delivered garment with the agent's warehouse QC images under a 5000K lamp and a colour card. In the coffee-brown colourway the match was close: a warm mid-brown with no red or olive shift, and no visible dye streaking across the body panels. Photographs of a brown tee always flatten out under mixed room light, so the lamp check matters more than a phone screen. The seven colourways are named plainly on the listing, but only the brown was in our parcel, so we cannot speak to how the apricot or the dark green render in person.

Print registration and the cartoon graphic

The cartoon motif and its large lettering are the whole design of this tee, so registration is the thing to inspect. On our sample the print sits marginally high on the chest and slightly right of centre — roughly 1 cm off the vertical axis measured against the collar rib. Nothing is cropped, the lettering edges are clean, and the ink has a matte finish that sits flat rather than raised. It is a small alignment detail, not a defect, but on a graphic-led tee it is the first thing we check.

Wear trial on a loose cut

Two testers wore the size L sample across nine days of summer wear — one at 178 cm and 82 kg, one at 171 cm and 74 kg. The 55.5 cm flat chest works out to roughly 111 cm around, which is generous on both builds without collapsing into a tent. Sleeves finish at mid-bicep, the hem falls to mid-hip and stays there when sitting, and the shoulder seams sit on the shoulder rather than sliding down the arm. Worn with denim, shorts, or open under a jacket with the graphic showing, it behaves exactly as the "casual streetwear" framing suggests.

Seams, ribbing and hem

Calipers put the neck rib at 2.0 cm with a clean, flat join and no puckering at the shoulder points. The side seam allowance measures 0.8 cm, serged and trimmed, and the hem turn is a double-stitched 2.2 cm. After two cold home washes the hem stayed level within 0.5 cm and showed no measurable twist, and the neck rib returned to shape without a noticeable ripple.

What we still cannot confirm

Two cold washes are not a season. We cannot tell you how this print behaves after twenty cycles, whether the cotton will pill at the underarms, or how much the body length will move over a year of wear — and no buyer-reported feedback on shrinkage, colour accuracy or print wear exists for this listing. The listing's own 1–3 cm tolerance is the other soft spot: it is honest, but it means the letter on the label is a starting point, not a guarantee.

Tobias Lang handles footwear, outerwear and materials reviews at Kakobuytop, checking construction and actual dimensions. Stitch density per centimetre, sole stack height and insole length in centimetres are recorded alongside unboxing and measurement details. Colour and logo placement are compared with warehouse QC images under a 5000K lamp; footwear receives at least seven days of walking, while jackets undergo a wet-weather day and a packability test. Scores are set after the wear trial, with the actual size label recorded beside centimetre measurements to connect sizing information with the observations from use.

Frequently asked

Did the tee actually weigh what the listing says?

Yes. Our size L sample read 198 g on the desk scale, inside the stated 180 g to under-250 g band. Smaller sizes will sit closer to the 180 g floor, so expect the lighter end of that range.

Is the delivered brown the same as the warehouse QC photos?

Under a 5000K lamp the coffee brown matched the QC images closely, with no red or olive shift and no dye streaking. The same design also ships in apricot, dark grey, dark green, black, white and denim blue.

How does the print hold up in the wash?

We cannot say with confidence. Two cold washes left the graphic intact with no visible cracking or lifting, but that is not enough evidence to judge long-term print wear, and no buyer reports exist for this listing.
