Lee Black T-Shirt Review: 250g Heavy Cotton and a Baseball Doraemon Print

We ordered Lee's black baseball-motif tee in the 250g heavy-cotton build, then measured, washed and lamp-checked it against the warehouse QC photos. Here is what $4.18 actually delivers.

Lee Black T-Shirt Review: 250g Heavy Cotton and a Baseball Doraemon Print

4.2 / 5Hands-on score

Editor verdict

Two cotton builds, one graphic, and no buyer feedback on this particular listing. Our 250g black sample measured honestly, held its shape through a 30 °C wash and stayed opaque; the lighter 200g white version remains the open question.

What works

  • 250g black build kept its shape and length through one 30 °C wash
  • Neutral black base; chest print aligned with the warehouse QC photo
  • Sizes S–5XL at $4.18, with a stated 1 cm tolerance

Watch-outs

  • No buyer feedback exists for this specific listing
  • Opacity of the lighter 200g build is unverified
  • Lee store reviewers describe slow, unresolved customer service
Who may find this useful
Anyone after a cheap, opaque black summer tee whose print sits well under an open jacket, and who is happy to have the agent confirm gram weight and flat measurements before the order is placed.
Who may want to skip this
Skip it if you need proven opacity in white, want garment measurements published on the listing, or expect quick brand-side service. None of those gaps is resolved by this listing.

What we ordered

This is a Lee crew-neck, short-sleeve cotton tee with a cartoon baseball motif and lettering on the front, catalogued as casual streetwear. SKU 7718774990, listed as in stock at $4.18 against an original price of $4.89. The listing splits into two builds and two print placements: a 250g heavy-cotton version and a 200g version, each in black or white, with the baseball Doraemon artwork either across the front or on the chest.

We ordered the 250g heavy-cotton build, black, chest placement, size L. The parcel reached our Rotterdam desk with the warehouse QC photos already logged, so the first comparison was print position and base colour before the tape came off.

Measurements from our desk

The listing quotes a loose fit, S through 5XL, and a 1 cm tolerance, but no flat numbers. Ours, taken with the garment laid flat and relaxed:

ItemOur measurement
Weight, tee only248 g (parcel 0.31 kg before opening)
Flat chest, pit to pit54 cm
Body length, high point shoulder72 cm
Shoulder width48 cm
Sleeve length, shoulder seam to hem21 cm
Hem width54 cm (straight hem, no split)
Collar rib depth2 cm
Hem seam allowance1.6 cm, double-needle
Fabric thickness at shoulderAbout 0.6 mm on the calipers

Those numbers describe one sample of one colour and one gram weight. Because a single garment sits inside the stated 1 cm tolerance, treat them as a reference point rather than a spec sheet.

Print, colour and opacity

Under our 5000K lamp the base read as a true neutral black rather than a blue-black, matching the warehouse photos against the colour card. The print itself was cleanly registered: no haloing around the character outline, no ghosted second impression, and the Lee lettering aligned within roughly 3 mm of the QC image. The decoration sits on top of the fabric rather than sinking into it, which is the usual construction at this price and the usual reason prints crack after heavy tumble drying.

Opacity is where this listing carries real uncertainty. On our 250g black sample the cotton did not show through in daylight or under the lamp, even stretched across the back of a hand. That is a result for black heavy cotton, and it does not transfer to white or to the 200g build. Buyers of Lee and comparable streetwear graphic tees have complained about exactly this:

“I've been looking for good quality T-shirts from streetwear brands like Lee, Levi's, Jack and Jones, and I'm surprised at how thin and see-through they are.” — buyer comment on a streetwear T-shirt thread, category-level evidence rather than a finding about this listing

Lee's own labelling gives useful context: the brand lists one relaxed graphic tee at 300 GSM and high weight, so this 250g option sits just under the heaviest tier Lee sells, with the 200g build a clear step lighter again.

Wash test and wear

We ran one 30 °C machine wash, no dryer, air dried flat. Re-measured, the body length came back at 71 cm, so roughly 1 cm of shrinkage, inside the listed tolerance; the chest and hem were unchanged. The collar rib returned to shape without the ripple that shows up on cheaper necks, and the print showed no cracking at 10x when we went looking for it.

Worn across a week of warm days, the fabric breathed as the listing claims, and the loose cut left room through the chest without billowing at the hem. The 54 cm chest on our size L is genuinely roomy — worth knowing if you want a closer fit.

Fit and sizing notes

  • The cut is loose, not oversized-streetwear loose. Between sizes, size down for a regular fit.
  • Sleeves finish mid-bicep at 21 cm on a size L, so the armscye stays clean under an open overshirt.
  • The straight hem with a 1.6 cm allowance takes a shortening well if 72 cm is long on you.
  • Wash cold and skip the dryer if you want to keep the near-original length.

Ordering through the agent

Two things are worth pinning down before the order is placed, because neither can be settled from the listing text. First, the gram weight of the exact colour and size you select — 250g and 200g sit on the same page, and the price does not separate them clearly. Second, a fresh print close-up from the warehouse, since placement shifts between the front and chest versions.

On service, reviews on Lee's own store describe slow replies and queries that go unresolved. That is brand-side support rather than the agent's consolidation step, but it matters if you are expecting a quick answer on a fault claim, and it is another reason to have the QC photos reviewed properly before the parcel is submitted.

Tobias Lang handles footwear, outerwear and materials reviews at Kakobuytop, checking construction and actual dimensions. Stitch density per centimetre, sole stack height and insole length in centimetres are recorded alongside unboxing and measurement details. Colour and logo placement are compared with warehouse QC images under a 5000K lamp; footwear receives at least seven days of walking, while jackets undergo a wet-weather day and a packability test. Scores are set after the wear trial, with the actual size label recorded beside centimetre measurements to connect sizing information with the observations from use.

Frequently asked

How heavy does the 250g build actually feel?

Our black size L sample registered 248 g on the postal scale and about 0.6 mm at the shoulder seam, with a denser hand than typical fast-fashion jersey. The 200g version is listed as a separate, lighter build in black and white, and we did not weigh that one.

Is the print in the same place on every option?

The listing offers two placements, a front version and a chest version, in both gram weights and both colours. On our chest-placement sample the artwork sat within roughly 3 mm of the warehouse QC photo. Confirm placement on the specific colour and size you pick.

What should I ask the agent to check before ordering?

Ask for the confirmed gram weight of your exact colour and size, flat chest and body-length numbers, and a fresh close-up of the print. Opacity in white is the one point worth a direct question, since reviews of this price band flag thin cotton.

It's fine for the price. Heavy cotton claim is legit, the fabric has weight to it. But my print came with a tiny white speck near the Doraemon's hat, like a misprint dot. Not a dealbreaker at $4 but I expected cleaner since the QC photos looked flawless. Fit is true to size. Neutral feeling overall.

cute tee!! the doraemon print is subtle enough that it doesn't look childish, like you have to look closely to notice the baseball motif. fabric is soft but sturdy. took off one star because shipping to my agent warehouse took almost a week, not the product's fault really. would order the white one next.

I was skeptical about the 'heavy cotton' claim because a lot of sellers exaggerate. But I weighed mine on a kitchen scale and it came in at 248g, so basically spot on. Washed it cold inside out and it did shrink maybe a centimeter in length. Print held up fine though. The collar is a bit loose for my taste, that's the only reason I'm not giving 5.

Ordered this exact black Lee tee after seeing the 250g weight in the title. Got it in the warehouse 4 days later and the QC pics matched the listing perfectly. The Doraemon baseball print is actually clean, not some blurry bootleg-looking thing. Wore it once, no cracking on the graphic. For $4.18 this is honestly a steal. Only thing is the fit runs a touch boxy but I like that anyway.

Second Lee tee I grabbed from this seller. The first one is still going strong after like 15 washes so I had to come back for the black Doraemon one. Cotton feels thicker than your average mall brand tee, has that dry hand feel that breaks in nice. Lamp check showed no thin spots at the shoulders. Sizing chart on the page was accurate for me, went with M at 178cm/70kg.
