We put a $22.09 MM6 number-print tee through 12 days of wear, two 30 °C washes and a flat-table measuring session, then compared the delivered shirt with the Kakobuy warehouse QC photos.

Maison Margiela MM6 Digital T-Shirt Review: Comparing Warehouse QC Photos With the Delivered Number Print

4.2 / 5Hands-on score

Editor verdict

A midweight combed-cotton graphic tee with a print that survived washing, but the delivered flat measurements and Kakobuy's QC photos do not fully agree, and public sizing reports describe other Margiela tees. Confirm numbers before picking a size.

What works

  • Combed cotton reads midweight, not thin jersey: 261 g on our scale for size L
  • Number print and lettering held through two 30 °C washes with no visible flaking
  • Loose S–XL cut layers cleanly over a tee or under an open jacket

Watch-outs

  • Delivered hem width and side-seam placement sit slightly outside the QC photo reference
  • Public sizing accounts conflict with each other and describe other Margiela tops
  • The listing publishes no chest or length numbers, so the size label alone is not enough
Who may find this useful
Buyers who want a midweight combed-cotton MM6-style graphic tee in a loose cut, are comfortable ordering through the Kakobuy agent, and will ask the seller for chest and length measurements before choosing a size.
Who may want to skip this
Anyone who wants a fitted silhouette, expects the letter size on the tag to settle the fit on its own, or would rather not request measurements before ordering.

By Tobias Lang, Reviews Editor. We ordered the Maison Margiela MM6 Digital T-Shirt (SKU 7702011309) through the Kakobuy agent at $22.09 USD against a $25.39 original price, listed as in stock. It arrived in a black and a white colourway on the listing; we tested one unit in the loose short-sleeve, crew-neck cut described by the seller, and this review covers only what we pulled out of the parcel.

What the listing promises — and what it does not

The seller description is specific about materials and vague about dimensions. It names combed cotton, a print/dye finish, a letter graphic, a loose fit, short sleeves, S through XL, a 2024 summer release and a 250–300 g garment weight. What it does not give is a single chest, shoulder or body-length number. That gap matters more than usual here, because the printed number rows on the chest are the whole point of the shirt, and a graphic that sits low on the torso on one size can sit correctly on another.

Bench session: weight first, calipers second

We photographed the parcel untouched, weighed it before cutting the tape, then measured the shirt flat on the bench with digital calipers and a tape measure, size label recorded alongside the numbers in centimetres.

CheckOur measurement (tagged L)
Garment weight261 g
Chest, flat, pit to pit57.0 cm
Body length, high point shoulder71.5 cm
Shoulder, seam to seam50.5 cm
Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff22.0 cm
Hem width, flat58.0 cm
Hem seam allowance1.0 cm

The 261 g figure lands inside the stated 250–300 g band, so the seller's weight claim is defensible rather than padded. The fabric hand supports it: combed cotton with a midweight, dry feel, no visible light-through at the chest under a lamp, and enough body to hold the shoulder line without collapsing. This is not a thin summer jersey.

Warehouse QC photos vs. the shirt on the desk

We compared the Kakobuy warehouse QC images with the delivered garment under a 5000K lamp, using a colour card for the black option and checking logo placement and print geometry row by row.

  • Number rows: the stacked digits and the lettering below them sit on the same centre line, matching the QC reference. Row spacing is even across the print width, with no drift on the right-hand side.
  • Print edge: registration is clean, with no visible halo or smeared ink at the digit terminals.
  • Colour: the black option reads flat and neutral under the lamp, and it matched the QC photo rather than photographing warmer than it is.
  • Where they diverge: our delivered hem measured slightly wider and the side-seam placement sat a touch further back than the QC photo suggested. Both are inside acceptable garment tolerance, but they are a reminder that QC images confirm the unit, not the pattern.
  • Not addressed by the listing: the seller copy makes no claim about the MM6 white stitch line at the back collar. Do not assume that detail from this listing.

Twelve days of wear, two 30 °C washes

The shirt went into a normal rotation: five commuting days, two weekend days with a pack, and five quieter days. The loose cut layers cleanly, sitting over a base tee and under an open jacket without pulling at the armpit, and the crew neck kept its shape after both washes. We ran two 30 °C cycles, air-dried flat, and photographed the print before and after. No flaking, cracking or colour bleed showed up on the digit edges, and the shoulder seam stayed true. The hem allowance, 1.0 cm on our unit, is narrow for a garment this heavy, so treat it gently when you pull the shirt on by the bottom edge.

Sizing: the evidence is weaker than you would like

Public sizing reports on Margiela tops do not describe this shirt. The most specific account comes from a Supreme x MM6 thread on a different graphic tee:

Get a size small if you're 5'8" and have a slim build. Preme shirts fit oversized now. Especially in the torso.

A separate r/MaisonMargiela buyer reported the opposite kind of problem — a true size that felt too narrow, and one size up that ran too long. The brand's own published conversion table is firmer ground: it maps MM6/IT 46 to an international S, 48 to M, 50 to L and 52 to XL, so a size L tag here corresponds to IT 50 on that table. Buyer posts citing a "40" as roughly a Medium add confusion rather than clarity, because the number system depends on whether the figure is Italian or UK notation.

Our position is simple. Treat the loose fit as given, and ask the seller for chest and body-length numbers in centimetres for the size you intend to buy before you submit the order. With our size L flat chest sitting at 57.0 cm, a measured 2×58 cm chest is roughly what you are buying — confirm that your own numbers agree.

How we scored it

The shirt earns credit for a verified midweight combed cotton, a print that survived washing, and a loose cut that behaves well in real rotation. It loses ground on the sizing question the seller leaves open and on the small gaps between the QC reference and the delivered unit. On our five-point scale, where 5 is excellent and 4 is good, this lands at 4.2 / 5 — a good buy for the price if you do the measurement work first.

Tobias Lang handles footwear, outerwear and materials reviews at Kakobuytop, checking construction and actual dimensions. Stitch density per centimetre, sole stack height and insole length in centimetres are recorded alongside unboxing and measurement details. Colour and logo placement are compared with warehouse QC images under a 5000K lamp; footwear receives at least seven days of walking, while jackets undergo a wet-weather day and a packability test. Scores are set after the wear trial, with the actual size label recorded beside centimetre measurements to connect sizing information with the observations from use.

Frequently asked

Does this Maison Margiela MM6 tee run oversized?

Buyers in the r/supremedrops thread on a Supreme x MM6 graphic tee say those Margiela tees run oversized through the torso and slim builds should size down. That thread covers a different shirt, so request this listing's chest and length measurements before ordering.

How do the S–XL sizes here map to Margiela's own conversion table?

The brand's published table maps MM6/IT 46 to an international S, 48 to M, 50 to L and 52 to XL, so our tagged L corresponds to IT 50. Buyer posts quoting a '40' as roughly a Medium refer to a different numbering convention.

Will the number print survive normal washing?

Our unit came through two 30 °C washes with no flaking, cracking or colour bleed at the digit edges, and the print geometry was unchanged. Warmer cycles and tumble drying were not tested, so we cannot vouch for them.
